RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan men's basketball team faces a pair of non-conference games this week, with the Jaspers taking on Providence Wednesday night and then welcoming Bryant to Draddy on Sunday afternoon.
The game against Providence will be broadcast on FS1, while the Bryant contest will be on
ESPN+.
Manhattan enters the week with a 3-4 record following a loss to former MAAC member Monmouth, 76-69. Before that, the team won its MAAC opener against Fairfield, 56-63.
Ant Nelson led the way in the team's win against Fairfield with 18 points and five helpers.
Nelson and
Josh Roberts pace the Jaspers. Nelson is averaging 14.6 points per game and handing out 4.3 helpers a tilt. Roberts is contributing 13.6 and 9.7 rebounds a game while shooting 75.4-percent from the field early on in the 2022-2023 campaign.
Providence sits at 6-3, with all games being non-conference tilts. Early in November, they took down Northeastern 89-65, a team the Green and White fell to in the closing seconds of overtime in the London Thanksgiving Classic. The Friars are led by Bryce Hopkins, who is averaging 14.6 points per game in addition to hauling in 8.6 boards. Devin Carter is providing 11.1 and 4.6 rebounds a game.
Bryant, who is scheduled to play Stony Brook on Friday, enters the week with a 7-3 record. The Bulldogs have a familiar face on the roster, with former Saint Peter's Peacock Doug Edert not representing the Bulldogs and averaging 8.8 points per game and shooting just under 40-percent from deep. Charles Pride paces the Bulldog's offensive attack, contributing 16.3 points per game and securing seven rebounds a game.
