These two teams met on Oct. 8, and Iona escaped the Jaspers with a 2-1 victory thanks to a Federico Russo goal in the 61st minute.
To get to the semifinals, the Green and White took down Fairfield at Gaelic Park on Sunday, 2-0. The Jaspers got goals from two of their all-conference players in,
Gunnar Studenhofft and
Ronaldo Da Silva.
The other All-MAAC selections also made sizable impacts in the match, most notably
Nassim Akki, the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, who made a brilliant defensive save to preserve the shutout and keep the Stags from building any momentum in the second half to mount a comeback.
The winner of tomorrow's match will face off on Sunday with the other semifinal winner on Thursday between the top-seeded Bobcats of Quinnipiac and the Purple Eagles of Niagara. That match begins simultaneously with the Jaspers' battle with Iona.
