RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan dropped its last home game of the season Sunday to Fairfield, 3-0. The final scores of the sets were 25-11, 25-10, and 25-23.

After losing the first and second sets, the Jaspers were able to rally for the third and fight against the top team in the MAAC.

The set opened with the Stags getting the first point. However, the Jaspers were able to answer back and obtain the lead. What put the Jaspers ahead was a five-point run, kicked off by a pair of attack errors, putting the Jaspers up 12-7. The Stags tried to answer back, but the Jaspers matched every point the Stags scored.

The Stags eventually caught the Jaspers when they went on a five-point run, built off a kill by Mikayla Haut. At the end of the run, the Stags tied the Jaspers at 18. The Stags took and kept the lead after this, with the score tied four more times. However, the Stags broke through the Jaspers to go on a three-point run, putting them up 24-22. The Stags used this two-point lead to carry themselves to a 25-23 victory.

The offensive leader was Julia Menocal, with eight kills. Defensively, Sophia Lotto, for the fourth game in a row, led the team in digs with 11.

"We were making better decisions about where we were placing the ball, who we were setting up for the ball…they also went at this set with more energy than the first two," said assistant coach Sara Atai when asked about the third set.

The Jaspers play again Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. against Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. Saturday is the regular season finale for the Jaspers.
