RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan women's swimming and diving team fell to Monmouth with a final score of 181-69 on Saturday.
Despite losing the meet, the Jaspers performed well in the individual races. Kyla Guilfoil came in second in the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard backstroke with times of 29:26 and 1:03.64, earning the Jaspers eight points. Abbey Mink came in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 37.29, only .16 seconds behind first. For the 50-yard freestyle, Mink again took first for the Jaspers with a time of 25.34, earning nine points.
The Jaspers won the 200-yard relay, for the second meet in a row, with a final time of 1:48.64, scoring 11 points. Eva Canning, Eva Canning, Jessica O'Brien, and Mink made up the relay team.
"It was a good performance by us considering it's a tough time of the year. This time of the year we're all practicing and training hard, so everyone is fatigued. Also being short a couple of teammates due to just general outages," said head coach Eric Rasmussen, Jr.
Manhattan swims again on Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. at the Cougar Invitational in Union, N.J.
