HAMDEN, Conn. –
Sami Derrico scored the lone goal for Manhattan in a 5-1 loss at Quinnipiac on Wednesday.
Derrico's tally came in the 43
rd minute when the junior put in a rebound off her shot from inside of the box to get the Jaspers on the board and cut the deficit to 4-1. The goal was Derrico's third of the season, which leads the team.
Manhattan (3-7-3, 1-5-2 MAAC) fell behind quickly as Quinnipiac (11-2-1, 7-1 MAAC) scored inside the first two minutes and added two more to lead 3-0 before 15 minutes had been played.
Olivia Scott scored the first two goals of the game for the Bobcats. Scott's first goal came 99 seconds into the game, shortly after a corner kick. Scott's second came in the 11
th minute, and Molly Andrews scored less than 30 seconds later. Ella Gagno made it 4-0 for the Bobcats.
The MAAC leading goal scorer and the top goal scorer in Division I, Rebecca Cooke, capped the scoring with her 19
th goal of 2022 in the 66
th minute.

Audrey Johnstone played a half in goal for the Jaspers. Both goalkeepers made a trio of stops.
Manhattan returns home for its final two games of the regular season, starting with Canisius on Saturday at noon at Gaelic Park. The Jaspers will honor its senior class with senior day before kickoff with the Golden Griffins.
