RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan held Marist to 27-percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers in a 72-45 win on Saturday afternoon inside Draddy Gymnasium.
Courtney Warley grabbed eight rebounds to reach 1,000 for her career, and Dee Dee Davis and Brazil Harvey-Carr combined for 55 points for Manhattan (8-5, 3-1 MAAC). With the win, the Jaspers remain perfect at home (5-0) and have won three straight.
Marist (3-8, 1-2) scored the first two of the game, then Manhattan got back-to-back buckets from Petra Juric and did not look back. Manhattan held Marist to 3-17 shooting in the opening quarter and 6-35 in the first half.
The Red Foxes made it 12-10 early in the second quarter before the Jaspers went on the first of a series of runs. A 14-2 run over 6:38 gave Manhattan control of the contest. The Jaspers went 6-17 from the field during the stretch while limiting the Red Foxes to 1-11.
Manhattan stretched the lead again with an 18-3 run that spanned five-plus minutes over the third and fourth quarters to make it 56-34. Davis supplied 10 points during the run. Manhattan forced six turnovers held Marist to four shot attempts. The final run of the afternoon for Manhattan came over the final 5:04. Leading 61-41, the Jaspers closed the game on a 14-4 run. Five different Jaspers scored as they went 6-9 from the field.
Davis and Harvey-Carr scored 14 of the first 18 points for Manhattan. Davis finished with a game-high 23 and eight rebounds. Harvey-Carr recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Camden, N.J. native added six assists and four steals. Warley finished with two points, three steals, and two assists to go with her eight 'boards on her milestone-reaching afternoon.
Trinasia Kennedy led Marist with 15 points on 5-17 shooting.
The Jaspers will try to remain unbeaten at home and win their fourth in a row on Thursday when Iona visits Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers and Gaels tip at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
