Philadelphia, PA – Temple posted a 3-1 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at the Temple Sports Complex.
* Owls improve to 1-0-2, while the Jaspers fall to 1-2-0.
* Temple opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a Nigel Griffith goal and owned possession for most of the first half.
* Manhattan registered its first opportunity in the 32nd minute when graduate student Brandon Joseph-Buadi had his shot blocked out of bound while setting up a Jasper corner kick.
* While that opportunity didn't yield a goal, it set the table for junior Johan Velez, who scored his first career goal in the 39th minute with an incredible bicycle kick.

* Joseph-Buadi would put another shot on goal in the 41st minute, but was denied by the Owls' Eoin Gawronski.
* After halftime, Temple scored a pair of quick goals in taking a 3-1 advantage in the 57th minute.
* The Jaspers would threaten in the 68th minute with a corner kick that led to another opportunity, but Velez's big for a second goal was blocked.
* Junior Hunter Kockiss made two saves, while sophomore Danny DiMarco turned away one between the pipes for the Green & White.
* Temple posted advantages in shots (15-6), shots on goal (6-2) and corner kicks (6-2).
* Griffith had a goal and an assist to lead the way for the Owls.
* Manhattan will next play at Columbia on Friday, September 10 at 6:00 pm.
