Nicholas Leads Manhattan To Fifth-Straight Win

Freshman Julia Nicholas scored twice, with graduate student Sydney Harwood assisting on both scores in lifting lift Manhattan to a thrilling 2-1 win over Canisius in the MAAC opener for both teams at the Demske Sports Complex.

* Nicholas deposited the game winner in the 90th minute following a long pass from graduate Sydney Harwood on the counterattack.

* Following Nicholas' score, the Jaspers easily killed off the final 23 seconds to earn the victory.

* The Green & White is now 5-1 thanks to registering its fifth-straight victory, while the Golden Griffins fall to 0-5-2 on the young season.

* Manhattan's five-match winning streak is the longest for the Jaspers since the 2017 season.

* Nicholas scored her first goal in the 36th minute off a Harwood feed to tie it up at 1-1.

* Canisius opened up the scoring in the 22nd minute when Tiani Fonoti converted a penalty kick.

* Senior Kim Mains made a career-high nine saves in earning the victory.

* Nicholas now has three goals, and two game-winning scores this season.

* Mains made a career-high nine saves in improving to 9-5-1 in her career.

* Harwood's firs two assists of the year give her a team-best 10 points.

* The victory was Manhattan's third come-from-behind tirumph of the yaer and their third on the road.

* Four of the Jaspers' victories have come by 2-1 margins, as the Green & White is now 4-1 in one-goal match-ups.

* The last four matches between the teams have all been decided by one goal.
