Dominant Effort Pushes Manhattan Past Delaware State

Manhattan extended its winning streak to four with a dominating 3-0 win over Delaware State at Gaelic Park.

* The Jaspers conclude non-conference play with a 4-1-0 record, while the Hornets fall to 0-5-0.

* Manhattan struck first in the fifth minute when graduate student Sydney Harwood crushed a strike from 20 yards out to the lower left corner.

* The Jaspers would continue to apply pressure throughout the remainder of the stanza, but were unable to add to their lead in the first half.

* Manhattan added to its advantage 11 seconds into the second half as freshman Corrine Jackson tapped classmate Brooke Zimmer's cross into the lower right corner of the goal in extending the advantage out to 2-0.

* Senior Kim Mains made her first save of the afternoon with a sprawling save in the 66th minute.

* The Jaspers then pushed the lead out to 3-0 when sophomore Sami Derrico blasted the ball past the keeper, off the feed from freshman Makena Ward.

* Manhattan posted a dominating advantages in shots (24-4), shots on goal (11-1) and corner kicks (8-1).

* Harwood now has a team-leading four goals and three game-winning scores.

* Mains made one save in collecting her second career clean sheet.

* Jackson and Derrico netted their first collegiate goals, while Zimmer and Ward notched their first assists.

* The Jasper newcomers have now accounted for three goals and five assists.

* Manhattan will next be in action at Canisius on Saturday, September 18, with opening kickoff tabbed for 1:00 pm.
