Riverdale, NY - Manhattan dropped a hard-fought 2-1 overtime decision to Fordham in the Jaspers' season-opener at Gaelic Park.
*Â With the game scoreless in the 12th minute, Fordham stole the Manhattan throw in and appeared poised to dent the scoreboard, but was denied when a pair of Jasper defenders redirected Alex Taylor's shot to midfield.

Eve Montgomery was the primary beneficiary, gathering the ball from 30 yards out before beating her defender 1v1, and finishing with a shot that bounced off the post and into the goal.
* After falling behind, the Rams went on the offensive but was unable to convert for the most of the night thanks to the strong play of senior
Kim Mains in goal.
* Mains would finish with a career-high nine saves on the night, highlighted by a leaping deflection late in the first half.
* Fordham finally broke in the 80th minute when Alexandra Taylor hit a bending shot from 25 yards out that found the lower left of the goal.
* In extra time, Caitlin Kennedy stole a drop ball and delivered the game-winner in the 99th minute.
* The Rams owned advantages in shots (32-7), shots on goal (11-3) and corner kicks (11-3).
* Montgomery's goal was the fourth of her career.
* Manhattan will next play at Wagner on Sunday, August 29 with opening kick at Hameline Field tabbed for 2:00 pm.
