Top-seeded Manhattan To Host No. 4 Canisius

No. 1 Manhattan (4-4) begins pursuit of its second MAAC Championship when it hosts No. 4 Canisius (5-4) in MAAC Semifinal action at Gaelic Park on Wednesday, May 5 at 7:00 pm. 

The Worldwide Leader
Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, and marks the second-ever men's lacrosse to be streamed on the worldwide network at Gaelic Park.

With A Win ... the Jaspers will host the MAAC Championship on Saturday, May 8.

* The Green & White has won back-to-back games against Canisius, after dropping 12-straight to the Golden Griffins dating back to the 2008 season.

Manhattan Named MAAC Regular Season Tri-Champion; Earns No. 1 seed
* Manhattan finished in a three-way tie for first place in the MAAC, en route to earning a share of just the second MAAC Regular Season Title in school history.
* The Jaspers also are the No. 1 seed for the just the second time in program history, winning the 2002 Championship as the No. 1 seed.

MAAC Weekly Honors
* Gucwa (Detroit Mercy), MacKinney (Siena) and junior Liam Walshe (Monmouth), who led the Jaspers with 15 goals, all earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this year.
* Krebs also was twice named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, following outstanding performances in wins over Detroit Mercy and Siena.

First Meeting With Canisius
* Manhattan ripped off three-straight goals to open the game and never looked back en route to registering the program's first-ever win in Buffalo, while snapping an 11-game road losing skid to Canisius on March 13.
* The Jaspers later scored four-straight scores en roue to jumping out to an 8-2 advantage with just over 12 minutes to play in regulation.
* Trailing 9-3 entering the fourth, the Golden Griffins scored four of the final five goals.
* Walshe netted a hat trick, while MacKinney added a goal and three assists to pace a Green & White attack that saw three different Manhattan players register multiple-points.
* Nicolosi and graduate student Trevor Pelletier each added two goals apiece.
* Krebs made 14 saves while yielding a season-low seven goals.

Last Canisius Match-Up At Gaelic 
* Manhattan scored five unanswered goals to overcome a four-goal first-half deficit in snapping a 12-game losing skid to Canisius.
* Graduate student Luke Hanson ahd a goal and an assist, while  graduate student Brandon Grinnell and senior Justin Malpica each found the back of the net. 
* Nicolosi scored a pair of goals while Krebs made 11 saves.

All-Time Against Canisius: In The Rankings
* Hanson is third in program history with 77 assists and seventh with 124 points.
* He is also the first player in program history to serve as captain for four seasons.
* Krebs is four saves shy of 400 for his career, and 44 shy of fifth place in the all-time Manhattan annals.

Coach Kelleher Quick Hits
* Named just the second coach in program history on June 25, 2015.
* Inherited a program that won just one game in 2015 and was ranked in the bottom-five of the RPI, and led them to a win at defending MAAC Champion Marist in 2016.
* Has 23 career victories, including seven during MAAC play.
* His man-down defense led the NCAA Division I ranks in both 2018 and 2019.
* Graduated from Vermont in 2009, and ranked 11th nationally as a senior with 2.50 goals per game.
* His grandfather Daniel played basketball for the Jaspers from 1930-1932.
* His father Dan '77 and mother Jeanne '78 are both Manhattan College graduates.
