Manhattan Concludes Historic Season Against Stanford

Manhattan dropped an 11-2 decision to Stanford in an elimination game at the Fayetteville Regional at Bogle Park.

* The Jaspers, which won their first MAAC Championship since 1999, end their season with a 22-16 record, while the Cardinal improve to 32-21.

* Sophomore Lauren Rende (Ardsley, NY / Ardsley) went 2-for-3 with a run to pace a five-hit Jasper attack, and reached base safely in four of her five trips to play this weekend on the strength of three singles and a walk.
* Sophomore Marika Deemer (Perrysburg, OH / Perrysburg) plated Rende for the first Manhattan run in the sixth with a RBI single.
* Senior Daniela Chiorazzi (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) followed with a RBI ground out to chase home junior Annie Moore (Northridge, CA / El Camino Real).

* Moore, who reached via a single, and graduate student Christine Gebhardt (Middletown, NJ / Middletown North) also recorded hits for the Jaspers.
* MAAC Championship Most Outstanding Player Nicole Williams (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) concluded her career with another solid outing, striking out two while yielding five runs, three earned, on eight hits and one walk over 5.0 innings.

* Deemer also saw action on the mound, striking out a batter while yielding six runs, three earned, over 2.0 innings.
* Manhattan is now 0-4, all-time, in two trips to the NCAA Softball Championships.
