Buffalo, NY - Junior Annie Moore's (Northridge, CA / El Camino Real) two-out, bases-loaded RBI single through the left side propelled the cardiac Jaspers to a 2-1 extra-inning win over Marist in the winner's bracket final of the 2021 MAAC Championship at the Demske Sports Complex.

* Graduate Student Nicole Williams (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) was her dominant self in the circle, striking out 12 while yielding one unearned run on eight hits and two walks over 9.0 innings of action.

* Manhattan will now play No. 2 Canisius tomorrow at 12:00 pm for the MAAC Championship, with the Jaspers needing to win just once and their opponent twice.

* Marist opened the scoring with an unearned run in the top of the fourth, only to see Manhattan answer with a two-out rally in the bottom of the frame.

* With two outs and sophomore Marika Deemer (Perrysburg, OH / Perrysburg) on first, senior Daniela Chiorazzi (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) got aboard via an infield single while pushing Deemer to second.

* Graduate student Christine Gebhardt (Middletown, NJ / Middletown) then picked a perfect time for her first hit of the weekend, blasting a single up the middle to score pinch-runner Lily Fish (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius) with the equalizer.
* Manhattan then threatened to break the stalemate in the bottom of the fifth inning, but left the bases loaded.

* After threatening in each of the next two frames, the Jaspers appeared poised to end it in the eighth, as Deemer led off with a double. Chiorazzi followed with a line drive was destined for the outfield, only to see the ball carom off Deemer for the first out of the frame, with Chiorazzi being awards first via a single.
* Marist would then induce an inning-ending double play, to temporarily delay the eventual Jasper celebration.

* The Red Foxes opened the ninth with a single, but were again denied by Williams.
* Sophomore Gabriella Mazzotta (Somers, NY / Somers) led off the bottom part of the frame with a single, before moving to second on a sacrifice bunt.
* Later in the frame with two outs and runners still on first-and-second, sophomore Lauren Rende (Ardsley, NY / Ardsley) worked a full-count before earning the free pass while setting the stage for Moore's dramatics.
* Williams wasn't as dominant as yesterday, but did manage to strand runners in scoring position in five frames and struck out the side in the third.
* Chiorazzi, Gebhardt and Moore each registered two hits on the day for the Green & White to highlight a nine-hit attack.

* This marks the first time that Manhattan will play for the MAAC Championship since the 2014 season.

* That year, Manhattan was also the No. 6 seed and is 8-3 when playing as the sixth seed.

* Williams hasn't allowed an earned run in Buffalo, and is 4-0 in MAAC Championship play with a 1.38 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 28.1 innings while limiting opposing hitters to .215 average.

* Moore, meanwhile, is hitting .529 (9-of-17) during her five MAAC Championship Tournament games with a home run, seven RBI and three walks.

* Kaley Coltrain and Hailee Jantorno each had two hits to lead the way for Marist, while Calista Phiippen was the tough-luck losing pitcher, striking out seven while yielding one earned run on nine hits over 8.2 innings.
