New Rochelle, NY -
Manhattan scored the first four goals of the match and never looked back en route to posting a dominating 17-10 win over Iona in the first of two games between the teams at Mazzella Field.

* Junior Grace Lipponer (Lake Grove, NY / Sachem North) continued her torrid play, registering a career-high eight points on the strength of five goals and three assists.

* Sophomore Reagan Mullins (Islip, NY / Islip) opened the scoring, before Lipponer and graduate student Deb Peifer (Collegeville, PA Methacon) found the back of the net.

* Mullins then delivered her second goal to cap a 4-0 run, while forcing an Iona timeout.

* After the Gaels briefly stopped the bleeding, Mullins found senior Alaina Burgess (Holden, MA / The Governor's Academy) for the first of her four goals on the afternoon, before notching her third score. Burgess would then find paydirt for the second time in giving the Jaspers a decisive 7-1 advantage with just over 11 minutes to play until halftime.

* Iona would rally with three-straight scores, before the visitors answered with three of the next four goals thanks to scores from Burgess, senior Carmella Liscio (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) and junior Meghan Rodino (Natick, MA / Natick) in building up a 10-5 halftime advantage.

* After halftime, the Gaels trimmed the deficit to 12-9, before Manhattan put the game away with five-straight goals.

* Lipponer sparked the spurt with three-straight scored, before Rodino and Burgess found the back of the net to cap the scoring for the Jaspers.
