Hamden, CT – Manhattan dropped a hard-fought 15-11 contest to Quinnipiac at the QU Soccer & Lacrosse Field, despite four goals and two assists from senior Alaina Burgess (Holden, MA / The Governor's Academy).
* Junior Grace Lipponer (Lake Grove, NY / Sachem North) matched Burgess with four goals, and finished the week with an impressive 11 over two games against the Bobcats.
* Lipponer picked up where she left off on Friday, scoring the first Jasper goal of the game on a free-position attempt, before Quinnipiac registered four in a row in opening up a 5-1 lead.
* Burgess responded with back-to-back goals on free-position attempts in trimming the deficit to 5-3 with 9:49 to play in the first period.
* The Bobcats then pushed their lead out to a half-high five at 8-3, before Lipponer closed the stanza with two-straight scores to make it an 8-5 game at the break.
*After intermission, Burgess assisted on the first Manhattan score, a strike from junior Meghan Rodino (Natick, MA / Natick), before notching the next two Jasper goals.
* Burgess' final score sparked a game-ending 4-0 run that saw senior Carmella Liscio (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee), Rodino and Lipponer all also find the back of the net.
* Sophomore Ashley Gambardella (Bethpage, NY / Plainedge) made a career-high 16 saves between the pipes, breaking her previous high of 15 set on Friday.
* Graduate student Deb Peifer (Collegeville, PA / Methacton) registered a team-best five draw controls.
* Manhattan is now 0-6, while Quinnipiac is 5-5.
* The Jaspers return home to host Monmouth on Friday, April 16 at 3:00 pm.
