Manhattan Drops Hard-Fought Decision At Quinnipiac

  Quinnipiac defeated Manhattan 13-12 in a double-overtime thriller at the QU Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.

* The Jaspers are now 3-3 and 3-2 in the MAAC, while the Bobcats are 3-2 and 3-1 in the league.

* Trailing 9-8 late in the third period, senior Sean MacKinney (Martinsville, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) tied it up with 47 seconds to play in the stanza off a feed from junior Liam Walshe (Commack, NY / Commack).

* MacKinney then opened the fourth-quarter scoring with his third goal of the day off a pass from Trevor Pelletier (GS, Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep).

* MacKinney quickly found the back of the net again on a man-up opportunity, depositing the pass from Walshe between the pipes in staking the visitors to an 11-9 advantage with just over 13 minutes remaining.

* After Quinnipiac tied it up, sophomore Kyle Gucwa (Pottstown, PA / Bishop Shanahan) gave the Jaspers a one-goal advantage with just over a minute to play with a laser from 20 yards out, with MacKinney this time playing the facilitator role.

* Unfortunately, Dylan Donnery evened the score just before the end of regulation, before scoring the game-winner with 1:14 to play in the second overtime session.

* Quinnipiac opened the scoring with three-straight goals, before a Manhattan timeout spurred a 5-0 spurt, highlighted by a pair of Luke Hanson (GS, Middletown, NY / Minisink Valley) scores.

* The Bobcats answered with three-straight goals in briefly reclaiming the lead 6-5 with 8:08 until halftime, the Jasper defense forced a turnover that led to a Jake Nicolosi (Sr., West Islip, NY / West Islip) equalizer.

* Not even two minutes later, Hanson fed Pelletier for the final goal before halftime in staking the visitors to a 7-6 advantage at the break.

*  After Quinnipiac took a one-goal lead to start the third, Nicolosi tied it up with his second strike of the game.

* MacKinney registered a career-best matching four goals while adding an assist.

* Hanson had two goals and two assists, while Nicolosi had two goals and Walshe a goal with two assists to roundn out the top performers for Manhattan.

* Senior Brendan Krebs (East Williston, NY / Chaminade) made 11 saves between the pipes.

* Manhattan will next host Siena on Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 pm.
