Fairfield, CT –
Manhattan lost both ends of its doubleheader to Fairfield at the Alumni Softball Field.

The Jaspers fell in game one by an 8-0 count, before dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker in the nightcap.

Junior Kylie Carr (Andover, NJ / Immaculate Heart Academy) and Vani Patel (Firestone, CO / Herkimer County CC) each registered two hits to lead the way for the Green & White.

Game Two
Fairfield held off a late-charging Manhattan team by a 4-3 count, as the Jaspers stranded the tying runner at third in their final trip to the plate.

Trailing 4-0 entering the top of the seventh, the Green & White battled back with three runs on RBI hits from Carr and classmate Jessie Rising (Little Egg Harbor / Pinelands), before sophomore Gabriella Mazzotta (Somers, NY / Somers) made things interesting with a RBI groundout. Unfortunately, Rising was left stranded at third base as Fairfield staved off Manhattan.

Carr went 1-for-1 with two walks, a run and RBI to pace a five-hit attack.

Rising struck out two while yielding three earned runs on four hits over 4.0 innings, while freshman Mollie Charest (Chatham, MA / Mamonomoy Regional) fired 2.0 innings of one-run relief.

Game One
Fairfield defeated Manhattan 8-0 in five innings in the opener.

Patel had one of the three Jasper hits with a walk to lead the offensive performers.

Senior Kali Puppolo (Adams, MA / Herkimer County CC) gave up five runs on four hits in 2.0 innings, while graduate student Nicole Williams (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) surrendered two runs on a hit with a strikeout over 2.2 frames.

Up Next
The teams will conclude their four-game series tomorrow with a 12:00 pm doubleheader at Fairfield, with the Jaspers serving as the designated home team.
