Riverdale, NY - Junior Kaitlyn Hogan (Monroe, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 59th minute, as Manhattan opened its season with a 1-0 win over Canisius at Gaelic Park.

Hogan's game-winning strike from 40 yards out, came after Canisius unsuccessfully tried to clear the ball following a Jasper corner kick.

Junior Kim Mains (Harriman, NY / Immaculate Heart Academy (NJ)) was outstanding in goal, making four saves in registering a clean sheet while also directing a potent defense.

Manhattan posted advantages in corner kicks (7-2), shots (11-8) and shots on goal (4-3), while each team committed three fouls.

The Jaspers are now 1-0 and 1-0 in the MAAC, while the Golden Griffins fall to 0-2, and 0-2 in the league.

Manhattan returns to action at Quinnipiac on Tuesday, March 23 at Quinnipiac with opening kick tabbed for 3:00 pm.
