Balanced Effort Pushes Manhattan Past Iona

Manhattan shot 43.1 percent from the floor, dished out 21 assists and posted a +17 margin on the glass in posting a decisive 64-48 win over Iona in the first of two games between the teams at Draddy Gymnasium.

Junior Dee Dee Davis (Bronx, NY / Preston) scored a season-high matching 19 points, while graduate student Pamela Miceus (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) finished with a career-high 16 points with six rebounds. 

Senior Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) added 14 points with 10 rebounds in notching her 20th career double-double in rounding out the double-digit scorers for the Jaspers.

Notes
* Manhattan jumped out to a 37-22 lead at the break, thanks to 15-4 half-ending run that was fueled by seven points from Davis.
* Leading by six late in the third period, the Jaspers put the game away with a 10-0 spurt that bridged the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth periods.
* Davis was 6-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-8 from long range, while also registering three rebounds and three assists.
* She has now scored in double-digits a team-best 13 times, in 19 of her last 22 games and on 23 occasions for her career.
* Warley registered double-figures on the glass for the 42nd time in her career.

* With her three rejections, Miceus is now the sixth player in school history with 100 blocks.

* Manhattan dominated the offensive glass to the tune of a 17-6 count, which led to 21-0 advantage in second-chance points for the Jaspers.

* Sophomore Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy) returned to the line-up, and chipped in with four points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
* Graduate student Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) pulled down a season-high six rebounds, with four assists.
* Sophomore Jenna Jordan (Valley Cottage, NY / St. Francis Brooklyn) had a season-high seven points with four rebounds and three assists.
* Manhattan was a perfect 3-for-3 from the line, and Iona 2-for-2 as the teams combined for just 18 fouls.

* Head Coach Heather Vulin improved to 25-2 during her five years when holding the opposition to less than 50 points.

* She also defeated Iona for the eighth-straight time.

* Manhattan also improved to a perfect 8-0 this year when leading at halftime, and when forcing at least 16 turnovers.

* The Jaspers notched 10 steals while hitting for double-figures for the fifth time this season.

* Ketsia Athias paced Iona with 12 points off the bench.
