Manhattan falls to 9-13 on the season and 6-7 in the MAAC, while Marist improves to 17-4 overall and 10-2 in league play.
Highlights:
- Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) earned a game-high 11 rebounds, moving her into 14th in program history with 608 career boards. Saturday also marked the ninth time this season that Warley has earned double-digit rebounds and the 12th time she has led the Jaspers on the glass.
- Julie Høier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) paced the Manhattan offense with 13 points, going 6-9 from the floor.
- Sini Mäkelä (Helsinki, Finland / Mäkelänrinne Sports High) earned a career-high 12 points, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 2-3 from three. She added a season-high two steals, four rebounds and a block.
- Making her first start of the season Tuuli Menna (Helsinki, Finland / Mäkelänrinne Sports High) had season-highs in points (5) and rebounds (7).
- Locked-in at 16 apiece with 35 seconds left to go in the first, the Red Foxes hit two free throws and a buzzer-beating layup to go up four at the end of the quarter.
- Marist then turned up the defensive pressure, allowing just one Jasper field goal in the second quarter and converting six turnovers to five points for the Red Foxes. At the half, Marist led by 15.
- The Red Foxes opened the third quarter with seven-straight points to extend their lead to 22. They would shoot over 64 percent in the quarter, including 57.1 percent from three to get up by 27 going into the final period.
- Manhattan outscored the Red Foxes 22-16 in the fourth quarter, with Mäkelä earning eight of her 12 points in the stanza.
- The Jaspers and Red Foxes remained equal in the paint, with both teams earning 24 points from inside the key. Marist, however, would hold a 13-6 advantage on points off turnovers, and hit 13 threes for the game, including eight in the second half.
