Both Manhattan and Fairfield move to 13-14 overall this year and 10-8 in conference play. The two teams and Quinnipiac are now locked in a three-way tie for third place with just a week left to go in the regular season.
Highlights:
- Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) earned her third-straight 20-point game as she continues her tear through the final stretch of the MAAC regular season. She went 8-14 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line.
- On the glass, Warley pulled down eight boards, including seven defensive rebounds, bumping her up to 172 for the season and sixth place on the program's single-season defensive rebounding list.
- With three steals in the game, Warley now has 66 for the season, surpassing her total of 64 from last year when she won the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year title.
- Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy) contributed 18 points to Manhattan's offense, shooting 43 percent on the day and adding six rebounds and three assists.
- Julie Høier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) led Manhattan on the glass, grabbing nine rebounds, eight on the defensive end. The Jaspers outrebounded the Stags 39-30 in the game and 29-21 in defensive rebounds.
- Coming in off the bench, Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) doled out four assists for Manhattan, bringing her career total to 290 and moving Cajou into 12th place all-time.
- Down 25-24 at halftime, Manhattan's defense stifled the Stags in the second, allowing Fairfield just 13 points over the final 20 minutes of play, including just six points in the third quarter when the Jaspers outscored the Stags by 11. Fairfield went 0-11 from three in the last two quarters, hitting just one in the game.
- While Manhattan went just 2-10 from beyond the arc in the game, the Jaspers earned 30 points in paint, making it three straight-games the Jaspers have hit or surpassed that point total.
- Manhattan also shot 84.6 percent from the free throw line (11-13), marking the fourth time in the last four games the Jaspers have shot 84 percent or better from the stripe.
- The Jaspers' 10 conference wins are the most earned by Head Coach Heather Vulin during her four seasons in Riverdale. Manhattan is 4-1 in its last five games with two games to go.
Manhattan will make the short trip to New Rochelle on Monday, March 2 to take on Iona at 7:00 pm.
