Manhattan Set To Host St. Francis Brooklyn

 Manhattan (0-4) will host St. Francis Brooklyn (0-3) at Gaelic Park on Friday, September 6 with opening kick tabbed for 7:00 pm. 

Home Cooking
* The Jaspers' match with the Terriers will kick off a two-game homestand, with Manhattan welcoming the University of the Pacific to Riverdale on Friday, September 13.

Last Week
* Manhattan dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to Fordham in the 'Battle Of The Bronx,' before falling to Binghamton on the road.
* Senior Camryn Nici was a force between the pipes, stopping 10 stops against Fordham and a career-high 13 at Binghamton.

Leading The Way
* Nici leads the Division I ranks with 37 saves, stopping an average of 9.3 saves each time out.
* She has set a career-high in saves in each of one of her four games: Hartford (6), Stony Brook (8), Fordham (10) and Binghamton (13).
* At Hartford, she also denied a Hawk scoring opportunity on a penalty kick.

Welcome Alums
* The program's alumni game will be held at Gaelic Park on Sunday, September 8 with opening kick tabbed for 10:30 am.

About St. Francis Brooklyn
* This is the inaugural season for the Terrier Women's Soccer program.
* SFBK has lost to Lafayette, Rider and Binghamton and have been outscored 5-0 during that time.

Montefusco Making Moves
* After missing all of last year due to injury, junior Arianna Montefusco has two goals this year. 
* Montefusco drilled a penalty kick in the opener against Hartford, before blasting in the lone Jasper goal against Stony Brook.
* The Long Island native now has 13 career goals, including converting three penalty kicks.
* Manhattan is 8-2-1 when Montefusco finds the back of the net.
* She earned All-MAAC Second Team and All-Tournament Team honors in 2017, thanks to ranking third in the MAAC with nine goals and fifth with 21 points.

Montgomery Picks Up First Assist
* Sophomore Eve Montgomery assisted on Montefusco's score against Stony Brook in collecting her first collegiate assist.

Welcome Home
* Freshman Kaitlyn Cooke played in her hometown of Vestal, NY against Binghamton, and is the lone freshman to have started all four games.

First Time, Long Time
* Junior Lindsey Healy started against Binghamton while making her first appearance of the year.

* Six juniors started all four games: Montefusco, Bri DeLeoSophie DemurjianSydney HarwoodTia Painilainen and Gemma Perez.

About The 2019 Jaspers
* The Jaspers return 22 letterwinners, including seven starters, from last year's team.

* The Jaspers are 29-1-4 over its last 34 matches when scoring first, dating back to the 2014 season.

Non-Conference Notes
* Manhattan's seven-game non-conference schedule will pit the squad against teams from three leagues, including the America East, Atlantic 10 (A-10), the Northeast Conference (NEC) and the West Coast Conference (WCC). Click HERE for the entire release.
* The Jaspers home opener will be against Fordham on Thursday, August 29 at 7:00 pm at Gaelic Park in the annual 'Battle of the Bronx.'
* Manhattan will play games at three America East opponents (Hartford, Stony Brook, Binghamton).
* The Jaspers will have two games against Division I newcomers in St. Francis Brooklyn (Friday, September 6 - 7:00 pm), which will be fielding soccer for the first time in 2019, and Merrimack (Sunday, September 22 - 12:00 pm), which is joining the Division I ranks this year, with both teams competing in the NEC.
* Manhattan will welcome Pacific, which is located in Stockton, CA, and plays in the ultra-competitive WCC to Gaelic Park on Friday, September 13 at 7:00 pm.

Jaspers Tabbed Eighth
* The Jaspers were selected to finish eighth in the annual MAAC preseason poll.

Home Is Where The Heart Is
* Since the start of the 2012 season, Manhattan is 28-23-7, including 17-12-6 during league play, at Gaelic Park.
