The Jaspers fell to the Purple Eagles 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17) in the match, moving to 2-11 on the season and 0-3 in MAAC play. Niagara improves to 2-10 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Highlights:
- Hoener's 44 solo blocks surpasses Whitney Judkins, who played for Manhattan from 2003-06. Hoener is now just three solo blocks away from tying Liz Livingstone for ninth all-time. She is also eight total blocks away from tying Marissa Behrens for 10th all-time on that list.
- Julia Menocal (Bronx, NY / Preston) led the Jaspers' attack Saturday, collecting a team-high 12 kills. Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) added nine kills, as well as eight digs and two aces. Hoener and Lizzi Brown (Orlando, FL / Bishop Moore) each contributed eight kills.
- Setter Julianne McKee (Poughkeepsie, NY / Spackenkill), making her first collegiate start, tallied a game-high 38 assists for Manhattan, earning an ace and six digs.
- Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) totaled a team-high 17 digs, while Katelynn Riner (Kennessaw, GA / Georgia Southern) added 13.
- Niagara out-blocked Manhattan 9-3 as a team, with Taylor Allen contributing five blocks for the Purple Eagles.
- Jaycie Roberts and Mary Redl combined for 26 Niagara kills, each hitting above .400 on the day.
- Roberts added a match-high 18 digs, as the Purple Eagles held a 72-54 dig advantage over Manhattan.
Manhattan will host Canisius on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. in Draddy. The match will be the Jaspers' annual Go for Gold match benefiting the Friends of Karen organization. Hoener and teammates Reyn Hoffman (Ventura, CA / Ventura) and Erin Prevo (San Diego, CA / Our Lady of Peace Academy) will also be taking over the @ncaavolleyball Instagram account on Sunday.
