Manhattan Aims For Second-Straight Win Saturday

 Manhattan (6-7; 2-4 MAAC) will conclude the 2019 season against Quinnipiac (7-6; 4-2 MAAC) at Gaelic Park on Saturday, April 27 at 3:00 pm.

The Tick Tock
* The Jaspers will be looking for their second-straight victory after posting a thrilling 7-6 come-from-behind win over reigning MAAC Champion Canisius on Good Friday.
* Senior Parker Giarratana provided the game-winning goalm while becoming the second player in program history to notch 100.
* Junior Kelson Borisenko fueled Manhattan's game-ending 5-0 run, ripping off his first goal of the year with just 10 seconds to play in the second half.
* The Golden Griffins failed to score on their final 17 possessions, which included nine turnovers.
* Manhattan also limited Canisius to a season-low six goals while snapping a 12-game losing streak to the visitors.
* The Jaspers earned their sixth win of the year, which is the program's most since the 2010 season.
* Manhattan turned it over a season-low 13 times while notching a season-high 10 forced turnovers.
* Sophomore Jake Nicolosi scored two goals and sophomore Brendan Krebs made 11 saves in earning the win.
* The Jaspers didn't commit a penalty for the third time this year.

Close Calls
* Manhattan is now 4-2 in games decided by one goal.
* All six Japers win have come back by three goals or less.
* The Green & White is 6-3 in three-goal games in 2019.

Defense Into Offense
* Borisenko's goal came as a result of one of his three forced turnovers and was the second of his career.
* On the year, the Winnipeg native has a team-leading 21 caused turnovers and 24 ground balls.
* He is one just five Jaspers to start all 15 games.

Not Too Bad
* Manhattan is second nationally in man-down defense at 81.5 percent.
* Last year, the Jaspers also led the Division I ranks, killing off 81.6 percent (31-of-38).
* All told, since last season the Green & White has killed off 81.5 percent (53-of-65) of penalties.

Krebs Making Moves
* The second-year Jasper netminder leads the MAAC while ranking fifth nationally with a .581 save percentage, and is second in the league with 13.5 saves per game (7th NCAA).
* He is also 14th nationally and second in the MAAC with a 9.77 GAA.
* On the year, he has notched double-figures in saves on 11 occasions, highlighted by a career-high 21 saves between the pipes in the win over NJIT to go along with an eye-popping .677 save percentage.
* Krebs scored his first career goal at Siena with an impressive 60-yard shot and had 15 saves between the pipes.
* He has yielded eight goals or less five times. 
* Over his last five games, Krebs has a .632 save percentage with a 8.60 GAA and is averaging 14.8 saves per game, highlighted by making 17 stops with a career-best .739 save percentage against Marist.

NCAA Recognition
* Krebs' goal was lauded by the NCAA as the fourth-best play of the week, while marking the third time that a Jasper has been recognized, joining Giarratana (Wagner) and MacKinney (Bryant).

Krebs Named MAAC Defensive Player Of The Week
* Krebs made his first career victory a memorable one, turning away 13 saves in the Jaspers aforementioned victory over Wagner. The second-year netminder also collected four ground balls in posting a .565 save percentage.

Hanson Breaking Out
* Junior Luke Hanson is second in the MAAC with 1.9 assists per game (25th NCAA) and ninth with 2.85 points per game. 
* He also paces the squad with a team-leading 37 points, on 12 goals and 25 assists.
* Hanson's 25 assists this year are tied for the second-most in program history, two off the single-season record of 27 (2002) held by Nick Silva.
* His 53 career assists are sixth in program history.

Parker Being Parker
* The Sunshine State native has a team-leading 17 goals and is 10th in the MAAC with with 2.82 points per game and sixth with 1.3 assists per game.
* Giarratana's hat trick against NJIT was the 16th of his career, including the third against the Highlanders, as he ends his career against the New Jersey based institution with 12 goals and five assists.
* Giarratana scored twice at Monmouth in registering his 29th career multi-goal performance.
* He also has seven games with at least four goals and four with with five scores.
* The Sunshine state native ranks second in program history with 100 career goals while his 60 assists and 160 points are third in the all-time annals. 

Balance
* Giarratana (17 goals, 14 assists), junior Brandon Grinnell (13 goals, 5 assists), sophomore Sean MacKinney (13 goals, 8 assists), Hanson (12 goals, 25 assists), junior Trevor Pelletier (9 goals, 5 assists) and Nicolosi (9 goals, 1 assists) have combined for 68.2 percent (73-of-107) of the Jaspers' goals and 76.3 percent (58-of-76) of the squad's assists.

* Grinnell has four of the Jaspers' 11 man-up goals, ranking third in the MAAC.

Senior Day A Success
* Manhattan posted a thrilling, come-from-behind 11-10 victory over NJIT.
* Prior to the Highlander game, seniors Christian BaldiRobert CarrollSam CrutchfieldDaniel DelBeneDylan DeMuroJohn Fredette, Giarratana, Troy GoldingCole Johnson and senior William Ratchford were recognized for their service and dedication to the program.
* Manhattan now leads the all-time series by a 5-0 count, outscoring NJIT 53-32 during that time.
* Giarratana and junior CJ Scharf each had three goals and an assist to pace Manhattan on offense.

Series Notes Against Quinnipiac
* The Bobcats hold an 11-0 advantage in the all-time series, including 5-0 since joining the MAAC in 2014.
* Giarratana has three goals and four assists against Quinnipiac in his career.

Second Half Shutout
* Manhattan didn't yield a second-half goal against Canisius, marking the Jaspers first blanking after halftime since last year's game at Quinnipiac.

Scouting Quinnipiac
* The Bobcats are led by reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year Jake Tomsik (29 goals, 18 assists), Foster Cuomo (24 goals, 10 assists) and Will Fletcher (23 goals, 9 assists).
* All six Quinnpiac MAAC games have been decided by five goals or less, including four by three or less.
* Nick DiMuccio has posted an impressive .532 save percentage between the pipes.

Manhattan Topples Hartford
* Manhattan collected an impressive 11-8 win over Hartford as Grinnell and Pelletier each netted hat tricks in the victory over the Hawks.
* Krebs made a career-high 16 saves while yielding just eight goals for the second-straight game in moving to 4-2.
* Carroll was 15-for-21 from the faceoff X with six ground balls.

Jaspers Take Down Bryant
* Manhattan earned its first-ever win over Bryant by a 9-8 count, while rallying from deficits of four goals in the second and two in the fourth.
* The Bulldogs had outscored the Jaspers 48-20 in three previous match-ups, including posting a 17-3 win in Head Coach Drew Kelleher's first game in 2016.
* Hanson handed out a career-high four assists, including aiding on the game-winner, with one goal and a career-high seven ground balls.
* Over the final 5:05, the defense yielded just one shot attempt and forced five turnovers to clinch the win.
* Manhattan ripped off five-straight goals in 11-plus minutes, which bridged the end of the second quarter and the beginning of third. 
* Grinnell added two goals and two assists while Pelletier also had a pair of scores to round out the multi-goal performers.
* The Jaspers forced 22 turnovers, killed off both extra-man opportunities and held Bryant to just 3-for-7 on fourth-quarter clear attempts.
* Borisenko paced the defense with three ground balls while also causing four turnovers.

Manhattan Defeats SBU In MAAC Lidlifter
* The Jaspers opened league play with a 15-12 win over the Bonnies thanks to a balanced attack that featured nine different goal scorers.
* The 15 goals represent the most since a 20-5 win over Wagner on April 3, 2012.
* MacKinney scored a team-high three goals with two assists in the win over St. Bonaventure after recording two scores and an assist against Lafayette.
* Carroll was 20-for-29 from the faceoff X with a career-high 13 ground balls against the Bonnies while Krebs made six of his nine saves in the fourth quarter.
* Walshe scored the first two goals of his Manhattan career.
* It was also the Jaspers' first league-opening victory since besting VMI on March 26, 2011.

Giarratana Named MAAC Offensive Player Of The Week
* Giarratana collected MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, after leading the Jaspers to an 11-10 season-opening win against Wagner. He earned the award after scoring four goals with two assists and five ground balls.

For Starters
* Manhattan's victory over Wagner represented just the fourth time in program history that the Jaspers won their season opener.

Parker Garners Preseason All-MAAC Accolades
* Giarratana was cited by Inside Lacrosse and the MAAC as a preseason all-league selection.

* A two-time All-MAAC Second Team honoree, the Sunshine State native registered 23 goals, a career-high 23 assists and a personal-best 46 points in 2018.
* His 1.64 assists per game ranked fourth in the MAAC, while his 23 assists are the most by a Manhattan student-athlete since Eugene Tanner in 2005, and tied for the sixth-most in a single season.

Otto/2002 Team Honored
* Justin Otto '06 was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame this past November, while the 2002 MAAC Championship team earned special recognition.
