Manhattan To Host Canisius

 Manhattan (5-7; 1-4 MAAC) returns home to host Canisius (8-5; 4-1 MAAC) at Gaelic Park on Friday, April 19 at 4:30 pm.

Dynamic Duo
* Junior Luke Hanson is eighth in the MAAC with 2.92 points per game while senior Parker Giarratana is ninth with 2.90 points per game.

The Krebs Cycle
* Sophomore Brendan Krebs is fifth nationally with a MAAC-best .577 save percentage.
* The second-year netminder is also eighth in the NCAA ranks with 13.8 saves per game (2nd MAAC) and 20th with a 10.09 GAA (3rd MAAC).
* He has registered double-figures in saves in 10-of-12 games, highlighted by a career-high 21 saves between the pipes in the win over NJIT to go along with an eye-popping .677 save percentage.
* Krebs scored his first career goal at Siena with an impressive 60-yard shot and had 15 saves between the pipes.
* Over his last four games, he has a .630 save percentage with a 9.25 GAA and 15.8 saves per game, highlighted by making 17 stops with a career-best .739 save percentage against Marist.

NCAA Recognition
* Krebs' goal was lauded by the NCAA as the fourth-best play of the week, while marking the third time that a Jasper has been recognized, joining Giarratana (Wagner) and MacKinney (Bryant).

Krebs Named MAAC Defensive Player Of The Week
* Krebs made his first career victory a memorable one, turning away 13 saves in the Jaspers aforementioned victory over Wagner. The second-year netminder also collected four ground balls in posting a .565 save percentage.

High Five
* The Jaspers collected their fifth win of the year against NJIT, matching the most for the program since the 2014 campaign.

Pretty, Pretty Good
* Manhattan is second nationally with an .899 clearing percentage and third in man-down defense with an 81.5 percent (22-of-27) success rate.
* Both totals lead the MAAC.
* Last year, the Jaspers also led the Division I ranks, killing off 81.6 percent (31-of-38).
* All told, since last season the Green & White has killed off 81.5 percent (53-of-65) of penalties.

Senior Day A Success
* Manhattan posted a thrilling, come-from-behind 11-10 victory over NJIT on Saturday, March 30.
* Prior to the Highlander game, seniors Christian BaldiRobert CarrollSam CrutchfieldDaniel DelBeneDylan DeMuroJohn Fredette, Giarratana, Troy GoldingCole Johnson and senior William Ratchford were recognized for their service and dedication to the program.
* Manhattan now leads the all-time series by a 5-0 count, outscoring NJIT 53-32 during that time.
* Giarratana and junior CJ Scharf each had three goals and an assist to pace Manhattan on offense.

Parker Being Parker
* Giarratana's hat trick against NJIT was the 16th of his career, including the third against NJIT, as he ends his career against the Highlanders with 12 goals and five assists.
* Giarratana scored twice at Monmouth in registering his 29th career multi-goal performance.
* He also has seven games with at least four goals and four with with five scores.
* The Sunshine state native ranks second in program history with 99 career goals while his 59 assists and 158 points placing him third in the all-time annals. 

Balance
* Giarratana (16 goals, 13 assists), sophomore Sean MacKinney (13 goals, 8 assists), junior Grinnell (12 goals, 5 assists), Hanson (11 goals, 24 assists) and junior Trevor Pelletier (9 goals) have combined for 61.0 percent of the Jaspers' scoring (61-of-100).  

DYK?
* Grinnell has four of Manhattan's 10 man-up goals, ranking third in the MAAC.

Lending A Helping Hand
* Hanson ranks 22nd nationally with 2.0 assists per game (2nd MAAC).
* He also is now sixth in program history with 51 career assists.
* His 24 assists this year are also tied for fifth in program history and just three off the single-season record of 27 (2002) held by Nick Silva.
* Hanson has 11 goals on the year while recording double-figures in assists seven times en route to a team-high 35 points.
* He has 90 career points and with three more points will crack the top-10 list in career points.

Series Notes Against Canisius
* The Golden Griffins lead the all-time series by a 20-4 count.
* A Manhattan victory would be the first in the series since posting a 13-6 triumph on April 28, 2007.

Scouting Canisius
* The defending MAAC Champion Golden Griffins are 8-5 and 4-1 in the MAAC.  
* Since dropping its league opener, Canisius has won four-straight games by an average of six goals each time out during MAAC play.
* The Golden Griffins are led by Mario Caito (30 goals, 7 assists), Jacob Buck (23 goals, 13 assists), Mathieu Boissonneault (25 goals, 10 assists), Carter Stefaniak (23 goals, 8 assists) and Layne Collins (14 goals, 15 assists). 

Manhattan Topples Hartford
* Manhattan collected an impressive 11-8 win over Hartford as Grinnell and Pelletier each netted hat tricks in the victory over the Hawks.
* Krebs made a career-high 16 saves while yielding just eight goals for the second-straight game in moving to 4-2.
* Carroll was 15-for-21 from the faceoff X with six ground balls.

Kelson Killing It
* Junior Kelson Borisenko has a team-leading 18 caused turnovers and 23 ground balls.

Jaspers Take Down Bryant
* Manhattan earned its first-ever win over Bryant by a 9-8 count, while rallying from deficits of four goals in the second and two in the fourth.
* The Bulldogs had outscored the Jaspers 48-20 in three previous match-ups, including posting a 17-3 win in Head Coach Drew Kelleher's first game in 2016.
* Hanson handed out a career-high four assists, including aiding on the game-winner, with one goal and a career-high seven ground balls.
* Over the final 5:05, the defense yielded just one shot attempt and forced five turnovers to clinch the win.
* Manhattan ripped off five-straight goals in 11-plus minutes, which bridged the end of the second quarter and the beginning of third. 
* Grinnell added two goals and two assists while Pelletier also had a pair of scores to round out the multi-goal performers.
* The Jaspers forced 22 turnovers, killed off both extra-man opportunities and held Bryant to just 3-for-7 on fourth-quarter clear attempts.
* Borisenko paced the defense with three ground balls while also causing four turnovers.

Manhattan Defeats SBU In MAAC Lidlifter
* The Jaspers opened league play with a 15-12 win over the Bonnies thanks to a balanced attack that featured nine different goal scorers.
* The 15 goals represent the most since a 20-5 win over Wagner on April 3, 2012.
* MacKinney scored a team-high three goals with two assists in the win over St. Bonaventure after recording two scores and an assist against Lafayette.
* Carroll was 20-for-29 from the faceoff X with a career-high 13 ground balls against the Bonnies while Krebs made six of his nine saves in the fourth quarter.
* Walshe scored the first two goals of his Manhattan career.
* It was also the Jaspers' first league-opening victory since besting VMI on March 26, 2011.

Giarratana Named MAAC Offensive Player Of The Week
* Giarratana collected MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, after leading the Jaspers to an 11-10 season-opening win against Wagner. He earned the award after scoring four goals with two assists and five ground balls.

* Manhattan's victory over Wagner represented just the fourth time in program history that the Jaspers won their season opener.

* The Jaspers boast a roster of 42 student-athletes, including 33 returning letterwinners and nine starters in 2019.

Parker Garners Preseason All-MAAC Accolades
* Giarratana was cited by Inside Lacrosse and the MAAC as a preseason all-league selection.

* A two-time All-MAAC Second Team honoree, the Sunshine State native registered 23 goals, a career-high 23 assists and a personal-best 46 points in 2018.
* His 1.64 assists per game ranked fourth in the MAAC, while his 23 assists are the most by a Manhattan student-athlete since Eugene Tanner in 2005, and tied for the sixth-most in a single season.

* Kelleher welcomes nine student-athletes into the program in 2019.

* Justin Otto '06 was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame this past November, while the 2002 MAAC Championship team earned special recognition.
