Riverdale, NY - Manhattan softball will host Saint Peter's for a mid-week MAAC doubleheader Wednesday, April 17. The first game will begin at 2:00 pm at Gaelic Park.

Broncs Sweep
Manhattan (14-22, 3-7 MAAC) picked up two MAAC wins April 14, sweeping Rider in a doubleheader at Gaelic Park. Freshman pitcher Jessie Rising (Little Egg Harbor, NJ / Pinelands) gave up no hits in 6.0 innings to secure a 7-5 win in game one, while game two starter Kayla McDermott (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland) one-hit the Broncs for an 8-0, five-inning W. Senior Lauren Pitney (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) went 4-5 over the two games, with five RBI on a double and a home run. She earned a team-best slugging percentage of 1.600 and an on-base percentage of .875.
In the MAAC
With their sweep of Rider on Sunday, the Jaspers moved up a spot in the MAAC standings, now sitting in ninth place with 10 MAAC games to play. Saint Peter's (5-34, 1-9) currently comes in at 11th in the conference standings. The Peacocks' lone MAAC win was a 7-6, 10-inning contest at Rider on April 13.

One of the MAAC's best defensive teams, Manhattan ranks 20th in NCAA Division I for double plays per game, averaging 0.50. The Jaspers also rank 56th in the nation for doubles per game, hitting a MAAC best 1.47 per contest.
Pitney currently holds the country's fourth-best on-base percentage at .583, coming in at third in the nation for walks per game (1.00). Her .742 slugging percentage also ranks as 64th in DI.

Manhattan took both games of last year's doubleheader against Saint Peter's, played in Jersey City. The Jaspers secured an 8-2 victory in game one and a 7-4 win in the second contest. Daniela Chiorazzi (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) went 3-4 in game two, driving in three runs off two doubles. Adriana Gambino (Stamford, CT / Westhill) also went 3-4 in that game, with a two-run homer.
