Now 8-9 in the league (10-18 overall), Manhattan looks to a Sunday showdown against Canisius to determine the team's seeding in the upcoming MAAC tournament. The Bobcats improve to 17-0 in the league and 22-6 this season.
Highlights:
- Lynette Taitt (Irvington, NJ / Bishop Loughlin) paced the Jaspers with 17 points, including 11 in the first half, when she went 5-11 from the floor. Taitt added four assists and three steals, both tied for game-highs. Taitt has reached double-figures in 10 of the last 11 games. Thursday's match-up was the fourth time this season she has lead Manhattan in scoring.
- Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) earned her fifth double-double of the year, scoring 14 points (all in the second half) and grabbing 12 boards. Though shooting just 2-7 from the floor, Warley went 10-12 from the foul line on the night.
- Manhattan held Quinnipiac nearly 11 points below the team's 70.3 scoring average against MAAC opponents. The Jaspers are just the fourth MAAC opponent to hold the Bobcats below 60 points this season.
- Manhattan earned 43 rebounds against Quinnipiac, the ninth time this year the Jaspers have recorded 40 or more boards in a game. Manhattan out-rebound the Bobcats 18-10 on the offensive glass, but suffered a 31-25 disadvantage on the defensive boards.
- Similar to the first match-up with Quinnipiac on February 15, a second-quarter stall by the Jaspers allowed the Bobcats to increase their lead, making a second-half comeback difficult for Manhattan. Thursday night, the Jaspers scored just seven in the quarter, compared to Quinnipiac's 15. Manhattan managed double-digit scoring in each of the other three periods, including a 13-13 third quarter.
- For the second-straight game, the Jaspers hit just one three, going 1-12 behind the arc against Quinnipiac. Manhattan shot 23.7 percent for the game, but put together a 72.2 percent night at the foul line, hitting 13 of 18 chances.
- Manhattan committed 14 turnovers in the game, staying under the team's season average (18.3) and well under Quinnipiac's 21.3 turnovers forced per game this year.
Manhattan hosts Canisius Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. in Draddy Gymnasium. It will be the final game of the regular season for both teams.
