Scarsdale, NY– Sophomore Sam Taraian (Rehobeth, MA / Dighton-Rehobeth) shot a one over par 71 to earn a share of first place at the Red Storm Invitational at Fenway Golf Club.
Taraian, who is the first Manhattan golfer to earn medalist honors since October 13, 2016 when Charles Seward captured the individual title at the Monmouth Invitational, shares the co-medalist honors with St. John's Gerald Mackedon.
Taraian recorded six birdies on the day, including both par fives.
Manhattan finished fourth position a score of 316 (+36), with St. John's capturing the team title with a score of 296 (+16).
Sophomore Jimmy Escoto (Laredo, TX / John B. Alexander) carded a score of 78 to finish in a tie for 10th, while junior Justin Ming (Pelham, NY / Pelham) finished in a tie for 19th place with a score of 83. Senior Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross) shot 84 to take 21st and freshman Lincoln Haymaker (Nashville, TN / Davidson Academy) shared 22nd place with a score of 85 to round out the top performers for the Jaspers.
Manhattan concludes the fall portion of its schedule with the two-day Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championships (October 27-28) at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ.
