Fairfield, CT - Fairfield defeated Manhattan 2-0 in MAAC action at Lessing Field.

Stephanie Tsangaris opened the scoring in the first minute, before Ally Filipkowski found the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

The Jaspers threatened to make things interesting at the end as junior Arianna Montefusco (Levittown, NY / General Douglas MacArthur) fired a header that was deflected in the 81st minute, before having a point-blank shot blocked in the 89th minute.

Freshman Kim Mains (Harriman, NY / Immaculate Heart Academy (NJ)) made eight saves in her first collegiate start.

The Stags posted advantages in shots (18-8), shots on goal (11-2) and corner kicks (3-2).

Manhattan is now 2-10 and 1-4 in the MAAC while Fairfield is 7-4-2 and 4-1 in the league.

The Jaspers return home to host Rider on Wednesday, October 16 at 1:30 pm.
