Manhattan falls to 3-14 overall and 1-5 in the MAAC. Niagara improves to 9-10 on the year and 5-2 in the league.
Highlights:
- Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) and Julie Hoier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) each earned career-highs in blocks Thursday night, combining for all of Manhattan's 11 in the game. Warley nabbed six, besting her previous high of five and recording the MAAC's best blocking performance of the season, while Hoier earned four.
- Hoier also had a career night on the boards, grabbing 10 total, the first double-digit rebounding night of her career. Warley led Manhattan will 11 boards.
- Freshman D'yona Davis (Bronx, NY / Truman) tallied a career-best four assists, the first time this season she has led the Jaspers in that column. She also put in a team-high 10 points in the game.
- Manhattan trailed Niagara 15-8 at the end of the first, shooting just 28.6 percent in the opening period. They went into the locker room at the half down 27-18.
- The Jaspers exploded for 22 points in the third, including nine from freshman Sydney Watkins (Wanaque, NJ / Saddle River Day). Down 10 with 7:31 to go in the period, the Jaspers went on a 20-12 run that culminated in a three from Davis at the buzzer to pull the Jaspers within two going into the final 10 minutes.
- Manhattan shot 47.4 percent in the third, including 57.1 percent from three (4-7).
- The Jaspers opened the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run, pulling ahead by four at the seven-minute mark. But Manhattan then went cold for the next three minutes, unable to nab a field goal while Niagara tied it back up.
- Down six with under two to play, Lizahya Morgan (East Hartford, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet) drilled a three to cut the Purple Eagles' lead in half. It would be the last field goal the Jaspers would score.
- Manhattan committed 27 turnovers, the team's highest single-game TO total of the season, leading to 23 points off turnovers for Niagara.
- The Jaspers held the advantage in the paint, 26-22, and scored 17 second-chance points to Niagara's five..
- Maggie McIntyre scored a game-high 18 points for the Purple Eagles, shooting 6-12 from three. Jai Moore led all players with 12 rebounds, including nine on the defensive end.
