Edison, NJ – Junior goalkeeper Marcellin Gohier (Nantes, France / CENS) was selected as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Gohiers wins the award for the first time this season and the third time in his Manhattan career. The netminder led Manhattan to two wins last week. He made two saves in the Jaspers' 3-1 win over California Baptist on August 27. He followed that up with his second shutout of the season, earning five second-half saves to down preseason NEC favorite St. Francis Brooklyn 2-0 on August 30. He was the only MAAC netminder to win two games without suffering a loss.
The award does not account for Manhattan's 2-1 defeat to Sacred Heart on September 3, as the MAAC will include those games in next week's voting process.
In his time with the Jaspers, Gohier has earned nine shutouts, which is tied for second-most all-time in program history. He has allowed just 11 goals across 17 games in Riverdale and has not allowed more than one goal in a conference game.
