Riverdale, NY – The Manhattan men's soccer begins its quest to earn its second straight postseason appearance on Friday, August 24, as they travel down the I-95 corridor to face Navy in the season opener for a second straight season at 8:00 pm.
Fans can access a free live stream of the game on the Patriot League Network via Stadium. Navy will also provide live stats.
Offense On Retainer
The Jaspers return a large portion of their offense from a season ago.
- Of the 71 points they scored in 2017, 66 points are back for 2018, good for 92 percent.
- This includes 25 of the team's 26 goals.
Defensive Stand
Manhattan looks to build off a historic defensive effort from last season.
- The Jaspers allowed 16 goals and collected eight shutouts in 2017, both program records.
- Manhattan allowed one goal or fewer in 14 of its 18 matches and did not allow more than one goal in a game in conference play.

Head Coach
Jorden Scott has named juniors
Marcellin Gohier and
Tristan Doran as captains for the 2018 campaign.
- Gohier enters his second season in Riverdale after earning the program's first MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year honor in 2017.
- Doran is in his third year as a Jasper after starting 13 games on the back line last season.
Preseason Praise
Gohier was also tabbed as the Preseason All-MAAC Goalkeeper. The Jaspers were slotted fifth in the preseason poll. The full results are linked above.
Senior Strength
Manhattan boasts seven seniors on its roster:
Ryan Shields,
Connor Hayes,
Troy Carrington (fifth year),
Jean-Baptiste Tamas-Leloup,
Callum Carsley,
Lucas Da Silva and
Eduardo Avalos.
- Shields, Carrington and Carsley notched career-highs in points last season.
- Da Silva, a 2017 All-MAAC Second Team recipient, led the team with eight goals and 18 points.
- Hayes set a career-best goals-against average at 1.63 in net.

Starting Off Right
Manhattan seeks its second-straight win on opening day. The Jaspers last won two straight season debuts in 2003 and 2004, beating Fordham twice.
Scouting Report: Navy
- The Midshipmen are ranked ninth in the 2018 Patriot League Preseason Poll after finishing 2-13-2 last year.
- Manhattan defeated Navy 1-0 in the season lid-lifter for both sides last year. Carrington found a loose ball and scored the only goal in the 77th minute at Gaelic Park.
- Navy has 12 newcomers on its roster and 19 total underclassmen.
- Head Coach Tim O'Donohue enters his third season at the helm of the Midshipmen.
- This is first time the Jaspers and Midshipmen will face off in Annapolis since 2002 and the third time overall in that span.
