The Jaspers improve to 21-23 while the Great Danes fall to 17-18.

Junior RHP Anthony Fanelli (Astoria, NJ / McClancy Memorial) made his first career start and was outstanding over 3.0 hitless innings, striking out four while yielding a pair of walks.

UAlbany broke through first in the top of the fourth inning when Travis Collins hit a two-run double to right field.

Manhattan fought back to tie the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two-out rally. Graduate student Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) was plunked for the second time before junior Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) walked. Junior Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) and freshman Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) followed with RBI singles to plate Forlow and Pena in erasing the two-run deficit.

The visitors quickly reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth with a single run. Matt Codispoti led off with a double before moving to third on a ground out. Collins was then plunked and on the ensuing play, the runners executed a perfect double steal in allowing Codispoti to score the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Forlow reached via a one-out single before quickly scoring on a Pena RBI double. Padre then put Manhattan a lead it would not relinquish with a RBI double to left field to chase home Pena.

Junior RHP Logan Muratalla (San Dimas, CA / Mt. San Antonio) followed with a scoreless eighth before sophomore RHP T.J. Stuart (Milford, CT / Bishop A. Foran) closed the door with a hitless ninth.

Padre reached all four times on the day, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI while Barrella was 2-for-3 with a RBI and a walk to pace an eight-hit Jasper attack.

Senior LHP Steve Arntsen (Manorville, NY / Eastport-South Manor) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the victory with Stuart garnering his eighth save.

Codispoti was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs to lead the way for UAlbany.

Manhattan will next host Marist on Saturday, May 5 in doubleheader action beginning at 12:00 pm.
