Fairfield, CT - The Manhattan College Jaspers (8-13, 5-5 MAAC) travel to Fairfield to take on the Stags (8-13, 5-5 MAAC) in the first league match-up between the two teams this season. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
Top Storylines:
- The Jaspers and Stags last met on February 12, 2017 at Draddy Gymnasium, with Manhattan falling to Fairfield 64-43. The Stags led 33-20 at halftime and increased their cushion to 53-30 heading into the fourth quarter. Manhattan rallied for the first eight points of the final period to pull within 53-38, but that's as close as the Jaspers would get. Kayla Grimme (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Amani Tatum (Cambria Heights, NY / James Madison) added 12 points and three assists.
- Fairfield leads the all-time series 47-37. Manhattan last defeated the Stags 70-55 on January 8, 2016 at Alumni Hall. It was the Jaspers' first win at the venue since 2011, and the victory snapped an eight-game losing streak against Fairfield.
- Tatum currently ranks 21st among Division I players in steals per game (2.95) and steals overall this season (62). She is 26th in the country for three-point field goal percentage (43.6). She also leads the MAAC in this category, as well as in steals and steals per game. Tatum is second in the league in assists (89) and assists per game (4.2).
- Grimme now ranks ninth on the Jaspers' all-time scoring list at 1,270 points. Current Manhattan Athletic Director Marianne Reilly is in eighth place with 1,305. Grimme currently has 860 rebounds for her career and is tied with Reilly for third on the all-time list.
- Coming off the bench, sophomore Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) has proven to be an efficient and reliable spark-plug for the Jaspers. Along with Tatum and Grimme, she is among the MAAC's top 30 scorers, and ranks second in the league in field-goal percentage (.493). She is fourth in assists (3.5) per game, and holds the league's fourth-best assist/turnover ratio at 1.7.
- For the past 12 games, the Jaspers have followed a loss with a win, and vice versa. The last streak Manhattan had was four losses at the beginning of the season, which was broken with a 72-38 win over LIU Brooklyn on December 16.
