Jersey City, NJ - With two more games left in the regular season, Manhattan College women's basketball travels to Saint Peter's Friday, February 23 for its final road contest. This is the second meeting of the two teams this season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game can be viewed live on YouTube.
Top Storylines:
- In the last meeting between Manhattan (11-16, 8-8 MAAC) and Saint Peter's (4-23, 1-15 MAAC) on December 28, Amani Tatum (Cambria Heights, NY / James Madison) tallied a career-high 28 points, lifting the Jaspers over the Peacocks 76-64 in Manhattan's first MAAC game of the 2017-18 season. Tatum shot more than 55 percent from the field on the night, including 4-8 from beyond the arc. She scored 16 of her total points in the first half, including a 10-point second quarter. The Jaspers combined for 15 steals on the defensive end, including six from Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland), who added 10 points and five assists.
- The Jaspers are 32-52 all-time against Saint Peter's, but 8-1 for the last nine meetings.
- Manhattan is currently third in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 60.9 points per game. The Jaspers are fourth in field goal percentage (.396) and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.305), with Kayla Grimme (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) and Tatum ranked among the top 11 scorers in the league. The Jaspers lead the MAAC in rebounding defense at 33.5 per game. The team is fourth in steals per game (8.2) and assists per game (13.8).
- Talah Hughes leads Saint Peter's, averaging 9.9 points and 5.5 rebounds a game, followed by Zoe Pero, who is averaging 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds a game. The Peacocks are second in the MAAC in offensive rebounds, pulling down 13.7 per contest. As a team, Saint Peter's averages 36.7 boards per game, good for fourth in the MAAC. They are also third in the conference in blocked shots, with 3.6 per game.
- Manhattan boasts a set of four seniors who combine for 428 games played and 278 games started over their careers as Jaspers: Grimme, Mikki Guiton (Schwenksville, PA / Perkiomen), Tatum, and Taylor Williams (Windsor, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet). Grimme leads the pack with 103 starts.
- Tatum currently ranks 14th among Division I players in three-point field goal percentage (45.2). She is 38th in the country for steals overall this season (70) and 48th in steals per game (2.59). Tatum also leads the MAAC in these categories, as well as in assists per game (4.4).
- With 244 career steals, Tatum is three away from third place on Manhattan's all-time list.
- Grimme has recorded 12 or more rebounds for the Jaspers over the past four games, including a 20-rebound game against Siena on February 15.
- Cajou ranks second in the league in field-goal percentage (.492). She is fourth in assists (3.8) per game, seventh in steals per game (1.9), and holds the league's fourth-best assist/turnover ratio at 1.8.
