Despite her efforts, however, the Jaspers fell in a close four-set match at McCann Arena, going 25-27, 19-25, 25-23, and 25-20. Manhattan drops to 0-18 overall this season, and 0-7 in the MAAC. Marist, currently tied with Iona for second in the MAAC at 6-1, improves to 9-8 on the year.
Highlights:
- Freshman Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) continues to lead the Jaspers' attack in MAAC play, earning a career-high 14 kills against the Red Foxes. She has totaled a team-best 56 kills in seven MAAC matches, averaging 2.67 kills per set in league play. She also leads the team in kills overall this season at 96, or 1.96 per set.
- Rehrer's 25 digs were a match-high and helped place her at 4.04 digs per set on the season, good for fifth-place in the MAAC.
- Sophomore Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) put up three blocks against Marist, tying the Red Foxes' Lauren Waide for the match-high. She has 15 total blocks in league play and 40 on the year.
- Teammate Kenza Hall (Oakland, CA / Middle Tenessee State) added two blocks on Saturday, giving her a team-best 18 total blocks in MAAC play.
- After falling to Marist 25-17 in the first set Saturday, the Jaspers put together an impressive second-set stand, hitting .323 as a team and holding the Red Foxes to a combined hitting percentage of .152. Manhattan committed just three attack errors to Marist's seven in the set, winning 25-19.
- The Jaspers carried their attack momentum into the third, improving their team percentage to .364. But some adjustments by the Red Foxes helped their attack, as Marist went 18-37 for a 25-23 victory.
- This is the third-consecutive match that Manhattan has taken to four sets, with just two four-set matches leading up to the streak. Marist is now on a three-match win streak after losing to Fairfield on September 26, the Red Foxes' only MAAC loss so far this season.
- Marist's Nikki DeSerpa earned a match-high 18 kills on Saturday, while teammate Taylor VanDerBiezen tallied 51 assists for the Red Foxes.
Manhattan heads to Loudonville, NY for a face-off with Siena at the Alumni Recreation Center. Both teams are looking for their first MAAC win of the season. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
