Louisville, KY - Nine members of Manhattan's 2018 softball team have been named to the
Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete list by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The award recognizes the academic prowess of softball teams across the association's membership categories, including NCAA Divisions I, II, and III.Â
Of 107 Division I teams earning honors this year, Manhattan placed 49th with an average team GPA of 3.43. ReturnersÂ

Nicole Williams were each recognized for having a GPA of 3.5 or better, as well as former Jaspers
Briana Matazinsky,
Shannon Puthe,
Victoria Ross and
Maddie Colombo.Â
Manhattan was one of seven Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) teams to earn honors, including Fairfield, Iona, Marist, Monmouth, Quinnipiac and Rider. Only Iona had more student-athletes receiving All-American Scholar-Athlete awards, with 10.
Manhattan softball finished the 2018 season 28-25 overall and 10-10 in the MAAC, earning a fifth-place seed in the league championship, where the Jaspers made it to the third day of the double-elimination tournament, losing to Marist 2-1 to finish the season.
