Manhattan Begins Busy Week Against VMI

 Manhattan (1-3-1) will host VMI (2-4-0) on Friday, September 8 at 7:00 pm before concluding non-conference play at LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, September 10 with first kick tabbed for 1:00 pm.

Rivalry Renewed
The Jaspers and the Keydets will be meeting for the first time since September 10, 2006.

All-Time
Manhattan leads the series with VMI by a 2-0 count and has outscored the military school by a 10-0 count in those two meetings.

The Jaspers and the Keydets will square off on the men's side on Wednesday, September 13.

Friday's match with VMI is the fourth of four non-conference home matches to go along with five MAAC match-ups.

Scouting VMI
The Keydets have scored eight goals on the years and are led by Emma Quirk (2) and Julianne Knoblett (2). Ceci Keppeler has served as the primary keeper, posting a 1.87 GAA and a .821 save percentage.

Sunday Musings
Manhattan will aim for its second win in as many years at LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, September 10. The teams met a year ago with the Jaspers pulling out a 2-1 victory thanks to a goal by senior Erica Modena in the 83rd minute. Sophomore Olivia Printy also made seven saves in notching her first collegiate win.

The Blackbirds are led by Jenn Peters, who has scored both of the team's goals on the year.

Junior Kelly DiGregorio made two saves in a virtuoso performance but it was not enough in a 1-0 loss to IUPUI.

The Jaspers are the in the midst of a streak that will them play eight-straight games within the state of New York, with five coming at Gaelic Park. Manhattan's next out-of-state game is a MAAC contest at Monmouth on October 7.

Junior Kelly DiGregorio and sophomore Oliva Printy have combined to post a 0.96 GAA in goal, which is tied for second in the MAAC.

Manhattan's three goals on the year have come from three different players: Montefusco, senior Maria Clemente and freshman Lindsey Healy. Additionally, all three assists originate from three different teammates: Saul, freshman Sophie Demurjian and junior Nicole Copping.

Leading The Way ...
Modena, a three-time All-MAAC selection, paces the returners for the Jaspers. A year ago, the fifth-year senior led the squad with four goals and two assists.

Modena In The Record Books
Modena is fourth in school history with 23 goals and fifth with 53 points.

The MAAC
Manhattan was slated to finish seventh in annual preseason poll with Modena being named preseason All-MAAC.  

When You Wish Upon A Star
This year's MAAC Championship will be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports with all 11 institutions qualifying for the annual tournament. The event will begin on Saturday, October 28 with the title match to be contested on Wednesday, November 1.

Head Coach Brendan Lawler ...
Returns for his eighth year at the helm of the program. In 2015, he guided the Jaspers to the program's first MAAC Championship appearance and was lauded as the league's Coach of the Year.
