Riverdale, NY - For the second-straight game, Manhattan registered four goals while doing so in back-to-back matches for the first time since 2005 in rolling past Marist by a 4-2 count at Tenney Stadium.
Â
With their third-straight victory, the Jaspers improve to 5-5-1 and 3-1 in the MAAC while the Red Foxes fall to 5-6-2 and 2-2-1 in the league.
Senior
Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) and sophomore
Arianna Montefusco (Levittown, NY / General Douglas MacArthur) each had a goal and an assist to pace Manhattan, which avenged last year's 3-0 loss to Marist on Senior Night with the victory.
Modena quickly opened the scoring in the fourth minute with her team-leading fourth goal before Montefusco found freshman
Gemma Perez (Park Ridge, NJ / Paramus Catholic) for her first career score in the 29th minute.
The Red Foxes would quickly answer 26 seconds later with a Jillian Colucci strike.
After halftime, senior
Dylan Burns (Manchester, CT / Manchester) pushed the lead out to 3-1 with her first goal of the year in the 59th minute on junior
Emma Saul's (Orchard Park, NY / Orchard Park) team-leading fifth assist.
Montefusco then for all intents and purposes put the game away in the 84th minute with her team-best matching fourth goal of the year off a Modena helper.
Marist dented the scoreboard one final time in the 88th minute when Taylor Mongno provided the final 4-2 tally with her first score of the year.
RECAPPING THE NIGHT IN ONE QUOTE ...
