Riverdale, NY - Manhattan lost to Quinnipiac in the MAAC opener for each team by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-19.
The Jaspers are now 0-12 on the season while the Bobcats improve to 2-12.
Freshman Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) paced Manhattan with seven kills, on .462 hitting. Junior Taylor Hasley (Memphis, TN / St. Agnes Academy) registered 12 assists and classmate Zoe Lindsey (McHenry, IL / McHenry CC) each had 12 assists to round out the Jaspers' double-digit performers.
Quinnipiac hit at a .274 clip and was led by Jen Coffey's match-high 10 kills, on .500 hitting. Maria Pansari also had a solid match with 19 assists and four aces.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Senior Mary Donnelly (Temecula, CA / Chaparral) had four kills in the third set while junior Casey Monroe (Riverview, FL / Riverview) matched her season-high with four kills, on .429 hitting.
- After the Bobcats scored the first 10 points in building a 12-2 lead in the third set, Donnelly then answered with three-straight kills in forcing a QU timeout.
- With the lead again in double-figures at 22-12, Manhattan ripped off six-straight points while forcing another Quinnipiac timeout in the process.
