Riverdale, NY -
Senior Maria Clemente (Troy, NY / UMass Lowell) blasted in the eventual game-winning goal after collecting junior Nicole Copping's (Blue Point, NY / Bayport-Blue Point) point-blank shot of an Erica Modena (Sr., Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) corner in the 28th minute to lift Manhattan to a 1-0 win over NJIT in the season opener at Gaelic Park.

The Highlanders would make a late charge only to denied by a strong Jasper defense that rarely let the visitor's offense get into rhythm.

Sophomore Olivia Printy (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL / St. Joseph Academy) made three saves in earning the win.

Manhattan outshot the Highlanders by a 19-14 count while owning a 7-5 lead in corners.

- Modena was denied her 24th career goal on a free kick by a fantastic save by NJIT goalie Karen David.
- Junior Emma Saul (Orchard Park, NY / Orchard Park) also almost found the back of the net but her blast from 20 yards out rattled off the crossbar.
