Manhattan Hosts NJIT In Season Opener

 Manhattan will open up the program's 27th season of intercollegiate soccer against NJIT on Friday, August 18 at Gaelic Park with first kick slated for 7:00 pm.

The Jasper Sports Network will broadcast all nine Women's Soccer games for free this season.

High Five
Friday night's lidlifter marks the fifth-straight season that the Jaspers have opened at home.

For Starters
Manhattan is 13-12-1, all-time, in openers and had won four-straight prior to last year. 

We Must Protect This House!
Friday's match is one of nine at home for the Jaspers this season.

The Returners
Manhattan returns 22 letterwinners from last year's team and nine starters.

The New
The Jaspers welcome 10 newcomers to the fold in completing their 32-woman roster. 

Leading The Way ...
Three-time All-MAAC selection Erica Modena paces the returners for Manhattan. A year ago, the fifth-year senior led the squad with four goals and two assists.

Modena In The Record Books
Modena is fourth in school history with 23 goals and fifth with 53 points.

The MAAC
The Jaspers were slated to finish seventh in annual preseason poll with Modena being named preseason All-MAAC.  Click HERE for the full preseason All-MAAC release.

Head Coach Brendan Lawler ...
Returns for his eighth year at the helm of the program. In 2015, he guided Manhattan to the program's first MAAC Championship appearance and was lauded as the league's Coach of the Year.

The Process
Lawler is 25-23-6 (14-11-6 MAAC) over his last three years after going 19-49-5 (8-26-2) in his first four years.

All-Time Against NJIT
Manhattan is 4-0, all-time, against NJIT.

Saul Saves The Day
In last year's 1-0 win over the Highlanders, junior Emma Saul netted the lone goal of the match while sophomore Olivia Printy made six saves in registering her first career shutout. Thanks to the performance, Printy earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors. 

Scouting NJIT
The Highlanders went 6-9-3 a year ago and were led by juniors Melanie Zrno and Neema Liverpool, each of whom had five goals.

Sunday Match-Up
The Jaspers will hit the road for a Sunday matinee at Binghamton with first kick tabbed for 1:00 pm.

Last Year Against Against the Bearcats
Binghamton posted a 1-0 win over Manhattan at Gaelic Park.

Good Omen
The road team has won every match in the series with the squads drawing at a neutral site venue in 2005.

Records Can Be Deceiving
Last year, the Jaspers went 0-4 against the America East but lost each match by a 1-0 count.
