PHILADELPHIA – On Wednesday night, the Manhattan College women's lacrosse team played its first road game of the season at La Salle.  The Jaspers (0-2) were unable to come away with their first victory, however, as the Explorers (1-0) notched a 13-7 triumph at McCarthy Stadium.

Manhattan jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY) and Kara Hodapp (Oak Ridge, NJ).  After a pair of La Salle tallies, Fitzpatrick found the back of the net again on a free position attempt midway through the first half to put the Jaspers back in front.  However, the Explorers responded with four straight goals to take 6-3 advantage.  Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) scored just 31 seconds later to make it 6-4, then Sarah Lang (Golden's Bridge, NJ) connected with Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) for a tally just before the end of the half to cut Manhattan's deficit to one, 6-5, at the break.

La Salle recorded the first goal of the second half, but the Jaspers again responded, as Emily Sandford's (Floral Park, NY) first collegiate goal once again pulled Manhattan within one, 7-6.  The Explorers scored the next four goals, though, to extend their advantage to 11-6, then added two more after a Hodapp tally to finish off a 13-7 victory.

Fitzpatrick recorded three points in the game with two goals and an assist.  Hodapp also scored twice, while Lang contributed a pair of assists.  Lang and Emma Kaishian (Yorktown, NY) each picked up four ground balls, as Manhattan held a 23-16 edge in that category.  Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) (0-2) made six saves in goal.

Toni Massetti had four goals and an assist to lead the Explorers.  She also collected four ground balls.  Brittany Edwards tallied three goals, and Mikki Raymond registered three points with two goals and an assist.  Lynne Frankel (1-0) stopped 10 Manhattan shots.

The Jaspers will now have 10 days off before returning to action.  Manhattan visits Bucknell (3-1) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 5.
