Newark, NJ – The Jasper Men's Swimming team collected a 122-82 win against St. Francis Brooklyn while falling to NJIT 152-64 on Sunday, November 19 at the Fleisher Athletic Center on NJIT's campus.
Junior
Evan Battisti (East Meadow, NY / East Meadow) had the second-best swim in the 1000-yard Freestyle with a time of 10:21.11. Teammate
Tyler Dalton (East Stroudsburg, PA / Pocono Mountain East) finished right behind him at 10:37.54.
Senior
Tyler McCloskey (Orangeburg, NY / Tappan Zee) collected two third-place finishes. He swam the 100-yard Butterfly in 56.57 seconds and the 200-yard IM in 2:05.83. He and Dalton were also part of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed second with a time of 1:44.07.
Freshmen Charles Ledda (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield) and Kevin Richard (Pompton Plains, NJ / Pequannock Township) took home third place in the 100-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Backstroke, respectively. Dalton swam the 100-yard Breaststroke in 1:04.20 to capture third place as well.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of seniors
Mitchell Rifkind (New Paltz, NY / New Paltz) and
Brandon Shields (Stony Point, NY / George Mason), junior
Tameryn Huffman (Albuquerque, NM / Cibola) and freshman Derek Lederer (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) earned third place, swimming in 3:29.54.
The swimming team's next competition is the ECAC Championships, in East Meadow, NY. The first day of events is on Friday, December 1 and ends Sunday, December 3.
