Riverdale, NY -
Freshman Jade Jeffrey (Tamarac, FL / Cardinal Gibbons) smashed a career-high 12 kills, on .417 hitting, to pace a Manhattan effort that registered a season-best 61 kills in a tough four-set loss to Canisius.

The Jaspers dropped the first two sets by identical 25-21 scores before fighting back to take a thrilling third set by a 33-31 count. The Golden Griffins rallied for a 25-23 win in the fourth set to take the match.

Canisius improves to 6-12 and 4-4 in the MAAC while Manhattan falls to 0-19 and 0-7 in the MAAC.

After dropping the first two sets, the Jaspers jumped in front 23-20 in the third and appeared to have the set in hand. However, the Golden Griffins ripped off a 5-1 run in taking a 25-24 lead. Manhattan would not be denied as Jeffrey blasted a kill off a Zoe Lindsey (Jr., McHenry, IL / McHenry CC) to tie it up at 25-25 while setting the tone for the Jaspers. Canisius would have an opportunity to serve for the set on three more occasions only to be denied each time on kills by senior Mary Donnelly (Temecula, CA / Chaparral), freshman Meagan Miller (Oakville, ON / Oakville Trafalgar) and junior Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State).

Manhattan would close out the set with a Lindsey kill in posting the dramatic 33-31 victory.

In the fourth set, the Jaspers jumped out to a 20-16 lead only to have Canisius rally with a match-ending 9-3 spurt.
