Hamden, CT - Manhattan lost a 3-1 decision at Quinnipiac in MAAC action at Burt Kahn Court.
The Bobcats took the first set 27-25 before the Jaspers battled back to take the second by a 28-26 count. Unfortunately, the visitors would be unable to build on the momentum in dropping the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-20.
In defeat, the freshmen trio of Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word), Meagan Miller (Oakville, Ontario / Oakville Trafalgar) and Jade Jeffrey (Tamarac, FL / Cardinal Gibbons) combined for 33 kills with each notching double-figures.
Hoener recorded 13 kills, on .500 hitting, while Miller had a career-high 10 kills, on .316 hitting, with three solo blocks and four assisted blocks to pace the middles. On the outside, Jeffrey notched 10 kills.
Junior Zoe Lindsey (McHenry, IL / McHenry CC) registered a double-double with 42 assists and 13 digs while junior Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) had a match-high 18 digs to round out the double-figure performers.
In the aforementioned second set, Quinnipiac led 22-15 before Manhattan ended the set on a 13-4 run in posting the come-from-behind victory. Senior Mary Donnelly (Temecula, CA ) keyed the spurt with three of her eight kills on the day with junior Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State) finishing off the set with a kill.
The Bobcats were led by Morgan Sherwin and Kaleigh Oates, each of whom had 16 kills.
The Jaspers return to action next weekend with their annual Western New York trek.
