Manhattan Posts Decisive 3-0 Win At Iona

Box Score Box Score (HTML) | Box Score (PDF)

New Rochelle, NY - Manhattan scored three times in the opening half and never looked back en route to posting a decisive 3-0 win over Iona in MAAC action.

The Jaspers improve to 4-6 and 2-1 in the MAAC while the Gaels fall to 1-9-1 and 1-2 in the league.

Senior Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) opened the scoring thanks to some nifty ball work to beat the defense before deeking out the goalie and easily deposit the goal into the back of the net.

Freshman Arianna Montefusco (Levittown, NY / General Douglas MacArthur) added to the lead in the 20th minute when she converted this penalty kick before senior Jenny Bitzer (Messstetten, Germany / Louisiana Tech) scored the third and final Manhattan goal off a Dylan Burns (Jr., Manchester, CT / Manchester) assist.

That would be more than enough for the Jaspers, which received a career-high seven save performance from freshman Olivia Printy (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL / St. Joseph Academy) in goal.

Iona outshot the visitors by an 18-8 count, including 7-5 on goal.

Manhattan, which won in New Rochelle for the first time in almost six years, will look for its second-straight victory at Canisius on Saturday, October 1 with first kick slated for 1:00 pm.
