Riverdale, NY - Monmouth scored three times in the second half en route to posting a 3-0 win over Manhattan at Gaelic Park.

The three-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Hawks improve to 4-4-1 and 2-0 in the MAAC while the Jaspers fall to 3-6 and 1-1 in the league.

In the opening stanza, both teams had opportunities with senior Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) and freshman Arianna Montefusco (Levittown, NY / General Douglas MacArthur) generating the best Manhattan scoring chances. Modena broke free in the fourth 11th minute and fired a hard shot from the right side only to be denied before Montefusco had her free kick from just outside the box blocked in the 34th minute.

After halftime, Madie Gibson scored her first goal of the year after Rachelle Ross drew the defenders before passing back to Gibson, who blasted the ball into the upper left corner of the net in the 53rd minute.

Reigning MAAC Player of the Year Alexis McTamney added to the Monmouth lead in the 61st minute before Alli DeLuca capped the Hawk scoring with her team-best third goal of the year in 74th minute.

Monmouth held advantages in shots (17-5) and corner kicks (10-2) with Amanda Knaub  benefiting from the offensive effort, making two saves in earning the victory in goal.

The Jaspers return to action at Iona on Wednesday, September 28 with first kick slated for 3:00 pm.
