Riverdale, NY - NJIT scored early in the second half before withstanding a furious late Manhattan rally en route to posting a 1-0 victory at Gaelic Park.

The Highlanders improve to 2-0 while the Jaspers fall to 0-2.
Rene White scored what would prove to be the lone goal in the 48th minute off a pass from Jack Flanagan from 15 yards out on the left side.
Over the last 12-plus minutes, Manhattan fired four shots that were blocked and two more that went wide while being whistled for an ill-timed offside penalty that nullified what would have been a Troy Carrington (Jr., Verona, NJ / Syracuse) goal.
Junior Joe Hulme (Bolton, Lancashire, England / St. Joseph's Roman Catholic) was outstanding on defense and prevented NJIT from scoring a second goal when he registered this team save off a Highlander corner kick.
Sophomore Connor Hayes (El Dorado Hills, CA / Oak Ridge) made one save, a diving stop that saved a goal, in his first collegiate game in goal.
Despite the setback, the Jaspers dominated the ball in the first half and posted advantages in shots (15-10) and corner kicks (4-2).
Manhattan returns to action when it hosts Binghamton on Monday, September 5 with first kick slated for 7:00 pm.
