Hamden, CT – MAAC Regular Season Champion Quinnpiac defeated Manhattan by a 10-3 score at the QU Lacrosse Complex.
The Bobcats improve to 9-3 and 6-0 in the MAAC while the Jaspers end their season with a 3-12 mark, including a 1-5 league ledger.
QU started strong with a pair of goals before junior Alex Abiog (Saratoga, CA / Bellarmine College Prep) found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Cole Johnson (Dexter, NY / General Brown).
Unfortunately, Quinnipiac answered with four-straight scores in taking a 6-1 lead into the locker room.
The Bobcats opened the second-half scoring with a goal before freshman Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) answered off a Matt Garvey (Jr., Essex Falls, NJ / West Essex) pass. Just 19 seconds later, Johnson scored off a Giarratana pass to make it a 7-3 game with just over 10 minutes to play in the third period.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as Manhattan would get in falling 10-3.
Sophomore goalie Michael Zingaro (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Walter Panas) turned in another stellar performance between the pipes in recording 19 saves.
Giarratana capped his outstanding rookie campaign with a team-best 31 goals and 13 assists. The Sunshine State native's 31 scores rank eighth in the Jasper single-season annals as Giarratana is also now one of just five Jaspers to hit for at least 30 in a season.
The game also marked the final contest for the senior class of Jack Fowler (Bethesda, MD / St. John's College), Alex Gitlitz (Centerport, NY / Chaminade), Alex Karlis (Branchburg, NJ / Somerville), Jimmy Rogers (Annapolis, MD / DeMatha) and Nick Strano (Rocky Point, NY / Rocky Point).
Ryan Keenan had three goals to lead the way for the Bobcats.
